Bone Density Screening (DEXA)

Assessing Bone Density & Strength

A Bone Density Scan is a painless and noninvasive imaging test used to measure bone density. It is mostly used to diagnose osteoporosis but can also be used to help women determine if they should pursue hormone therapy due to bodily changes during menopause.

What Happens During a Test?

During the scan, you will lie on a padded table. Your body will then be exposed to low doses of radiation as the scanner captures images of your skeletal system (bones). There are no injections or incisions required. All you must do is lie back and relax till the scan is completed.
