General Radiography

A radiograph (X-Ray) is a test that uses X-rays to help your physician diagnose issues with bones, tissue, organs, and vessels within the human body.

Why you may need a radiograph:

  • Bone fractures and infections
  • Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Lung infection
  • Enlarged heart
  • Stomach ulcers
  • Swallowed items
  • Kidney stones

What are my risks for radiation from an X-ray?

We are exposed to radiation everyday through our natural environments. While an X-ray does expose you to small amounts of radiation, it is very minor, and the benefits of the test outweigh the risks for most people. However, if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, please tell your doctor and alternative testing may be recommended.
